I've been reading Songs in Dark Times: Yiddish Poetry of Struggle from Scottsboro to Palestine, Harvard University Press, with great interest. Amelia M. Glaser, Associate Professor of Russian and Comparative Literature at University of California, San Diego, has given us a remarkable collection of Yiddish songs addressing labor, poverty, war, and injustice along with text offering historical context.
The song texts, in one of the appendices, are given in English and transliterated Yiddish plus about 60 pages of notes with additional historic information.
If you love Yiddish songs check this out! You can find it at Amazon and elsewhere.
